Heart is one of the most vital organs in human’s body. Not only it takes role in blood flow, but it also one that indicates human’s life. So, what is heart? It is a muscular organ about the size of a closed fist that functions as the body’s circulatory pump. It takes in deoxygenated blood through the veins and delivers it to the lungs for oxygenation before pumping it into the various arteries (which provide oxygen and nutrients to body tissues by transporting the blood throughout the body). To know further about the anatomy of heart, here it is for a handy of heart diagram for you to print!
The heart is located in the thoracic cavity medial to the lungs and posterior to the sternum. And the diagram above is an excellent human heart diagram which uses different colors to show different parts and also labels a number of important heart component such as the aorta, pulmonary artery, pulmonary vein, left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle, right ventricle, inferior vena cava and superior vena cava among others. The heart is seen from the front in the heart diagram. So the right side of the heart is shown on the left of the diagram. The left side is on the right side of the diagram. More pictures are as follows.
In this heart diagram, you can see and learn how heart functions to keep us alive. Heart has four chambers: the right atrium receives blood from the veins and pumps it to the right ventricle; the right ventricle receives blood from the right atrium and pumps it to the lungs, where it is loaded with oxygen; the left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it to the left ventricle; the left ventricle (the strongest chamber) pumps oxygen-rich blood to the rest of the body. The left ventricle’s vigorous contractions create our blood pressure.
